17/10/02- I found this bit of news from Bit of Earth's message board. For all the Brits out there December the 19th is the day to go to London's science museum.....Why?.....Because they are having a Middle-Earth exhibtion:
To quote the article

It opens on December 19. After its 10-week season at Te Papa (NZ), it will be shown at London's Science Museum, the science museums in Boston and Singapore and the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.

The exhibition would be big on interactive components, museum spokesman Paul Brewer said. Visitors would experience some of the film's special effects wizardry first hand, as well as getting up close to props, costumes and computer and mechanical interactives. It would feature interviews with the cast, crew and director Peter Jackson.

The level 4 Tower Gallery would be transformed into Middle Earth, Mr Brewer said.

Visitors would be met by the main characters and other magical creatures from Jackson's adaptation of J R R Tolkien's book.

 3/10/02-     Wood Wants Fellowship DVD

Elijah Wood told SCI FI Wire that he's eager to see the "special extended edition" of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, which New Line Home Entertainment will release as a four-disc DVD set on Nov. 12. "I can't wait," Wood said in an interview. "I want it now, because it is a half-hour longer. They've cut a half-hour back into the movie."

The actor, who stars in the Rings trilogy as the heroic hobbit Frodo, added, "Instead of having the release with the deleted scenes section, [director Peter Jackson] has literally cut 30 minutes back into the film and added new musical cues that [composer] Howard Shore wrote for the DVD. There are also two discs of supplemental material. So there is a bunch of bonus documentaries and an in-depth study of how the movie was made. It's pretty unbelievable." The second chapter in the Lord of the Rings adventure, "The Two Towers," opens nationwide on Dec. 18.

On April 22nd this picture was taken of Elijah and Try Seventeen co-star Franka Potente at a Hockey Game in Canada. However Franka now pleads innocent and claims to still be with her original boyfriend Tom. On her official website she states (translation by Suzanne): "Hello dear ones! To avoid even more rumors: Tom is still my boyfriend - the alleged "Kiss-Photos" were planned for the Making-Of-Video which appears in the DVD-Version. They just originated due to funny situations. My Press speaker already explained this. I hope it's all cleared up now". Either way Elijah is now back home and will return to New Zealand on May 15th to shoot extra scenes for The Two Towers!

Tarantino will serve as executive producer of a film based on the Marvel comic series, "Mort: the Dead Teenager," Tarantino's publicist Bumble Ward said on Friday. Madonna (news - web sites)'s Maverick Films will co-produce the movie.

In a departure from other Marvel comics, the movie's main character, Mort, is not a superhero, but a teenager who is beheaded in a train accident at the start of the film.

Mort descends in the Netherworld and meets Teen Death, the son of the Grim Reaper, and "the two of them get into all sorts of trouble," said Zachary Feurer, a producer at Maverick Films. "Mort convinces Teen Death to return to high school with him so he can win back the girl of his dreams, even though he's dead."

"The film is a completely unique look at adolescence as seen through the eyes of a fantasy. It speaks to teen-agers everywhere," Feurer said. "It's a teen comedy with a 'Beetlejuice' sensibility."

Actress Dominique Swain, who starred in "Lolita," and Elijah Wood, who recently appeared as the young hobbit Frodo in "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," are being considered for the lead roles, Feurer said.

Elijah Wood set for thumbsucking role

Elijah Wood is to star in a new film about a man who can't stop sucking his thumb.

The Lord Of The Rings actor will team up with Tilda Swinton in Thumbsucker.

Wood will play Justin Cobb, who is called the "King Kong of oral obsessives" by his dentist.

Justin tries to get over his fixations but ends up throwing his already far-from-conventional family into chaos.

Swinton will play Audrey, Justin's mother, a part-time nurse who helps the rich and famous to dry out.

Scarlett Johansson, who appeared in Ghost World, is in talks to play a girl who Justin has a crush on.

According to www.hollywoodreporter.com, filming is due to begin in the summer.
